As the world turns and tumbles, some talk sane

October 18, 2011

There is nothing as tedious and to no end, as the current science/scientism/creatonism/faith/religion “controversies”, we are so bored. Please stop. Get a life. DO something. Take a galactic plane to the stars:

to the stars...and beyond

The field of these “controversy wars” is scattered with cadavers, some very obviously, ‘collateral damage” that have nothing to contribute because they are already dead: SJ Gould for instance. We all loved him as undergrads and his writings and books are superb. But he has been vilified for in Rock of Ages: “”the empirical realm: what the universe is made of (fact) and why does it work in this way (theory). The magisterium of religion extends over questions of ultimate meaning and moral value. These two magisteria do not overlap, nor do they encompass all inquiry.” NOMA as this suggestion is known, has demoted SJ Gould as an “accomodationist” in some atheists’ parlance (they come up with some awful terms), and his science deemed second rate by fourth rate evolutionary biologists turned “enlightened” atheists for lack of any decent science to show.

Evangelicals and other sects that spout fundamentalist “factions” are a pain in the ass because they infect the territory of human nature with their adamant stance on science. In this framework it is refreshing to read at the NYT  “The evangelical rejection of science”, a rather surprising opinion (Giberson and Stephens):

“The rejection of science  seems to be part of a politically monolithic red-state fundamentalism, textbook evidence of an unyielding ignorance on the part of the religious. As one fundamentalist slogan puts it, “The Bible says it, I believe it, that settles it.” But evangelical Christianity need not be defined by the simplistic theology, cultural isolationism and stubborn anti-intellectualism that most of the Republican candidates have embraced.” (i dont particularly care for these groups in anycase).

This is the kind of argument that makes an impact in any relevant to life decision today and that will influence the way we live the next decade(s), through vote. The decade of the7b. I would only hope the loud idiots in both aisles of the “controversies” start contributing to mitigate the dark of the future. But probably many, in the light of the Better Angels’ argument, Pinkers’ last book, will do nothing since he has convincingly shown we are flourishing in  peace, technology and “progress”…long yawn……what an enlightened  idiot (Pinker).

After writing this I read Douthat’s NYT second opinion of Pinkers’ book. And he quotes from other reviews. Something that astonishes me is the level of…’suckupism”..for lack of a word that describes the absolutely repugnant synergism between the so called Horsemen of Enlightenment: “you suck mine , ill suck yours” (book apparently)  kinda thing. I suggest they are intellectually dishonest. Ayone disagreeing is excommunicated (?). (The worst of them all is Coyne). I sort of agree with Douthat:

“Pinker has written a Whig’s interpretation of history, and he is never more Whiggish than in his assumption that we owe almost everything to the Enlightenment, and all that came before was a long medieval dark.”

(if it wasnt for the enlightenment, these newly enlightened  guys wouldnt have anything to contribute to real life).

I mean it is so OBVIOUSLY obvious life was harder before…..

A Chilean jesuit: Manuel Diaz Lacunza, and his extraordinary life..in exile

June 15, 2011

A surprising revelation via an unlikely source and an astonishing prediction (i mean if you take this stuff seriously)

“Lacunza believed – based on his reading of Bible prophecy – that during the period before the “day of the Lord” there would be a general apostasy of the Catholic Church which would make it part of the Antichrist. In this sense “the church” was not individuals, but “a moral body” composed of all the apostates and atheists. Naturally this view was especially controversial because it placed the official church on the wrong side in the final struggle between Good and Evil. It was this belief that finally brought about the Vatican’s condemnation of his work.” (around 1750). via wiki

Check out his book(s) available free online; Coming of  Messiah in glory and majesty, two volumes.

I have received many warm messages from atheists thanking me for having made apparent their purpose on earth: save us from damnation….jajajajajjajaj

Ms Peggy Noonan, a new idol and female (sex) symbol

April 23, 2011

Ms Peggy Noonan has it all:  witty, smart, stirring talking cadence, Reagan speechwriter (a plus today), WSJ elite,  informed, gorgeous hair, and hot, physically. She came unto my life after I saw and heard her talk in some Sunday morning show. In saturdays’ WSJ she writes about ” What the world sees in America (sic) (actually the US)”.  Although this article is not particularly well developed and has a false start with the qualifier America for the US (the US is not godammed America!!) we find a very much needed call for a change in the collective psyche of US people. I also acknowledge she has written bad stuff.

“And, being human, they (the world) may be judging us with a small, extra hedge of harshness for judging them and looking down on them (the world). We have work to do at home, on our culture and our country. A beautiful easter to St Marys Church of Charleston and happy passover to Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim’.

Well, with this phrase, Ms Noonan is enshrined in my superstar museum of fame. She is right: a hard look at our innards may improve our mutual conversations and those with the cosmos, badly needed since a quick scan of the human condition on this day (sunday) shows clear indications of a worsening status. A temperate call for religious tolerance is in due course.

On the mirror image of this call for tolerance, remarkably virulent blitzkriegs on “easter”  unchained in some atheists’ posts casting a sad shadow of intolerance in the already scorched landscape in TX or the tornado stricken neighbourhoods in St Louis (depending where you are you either burnt or swallowed by the sublime terror of the tornado) . In the meantime in some school in Seattle, easter eggs are now ‘spring spheres”, not to offend anyone,  and ridicule marches on showing human intemperance and intolerance here in America (this is so interesting).

We are totally off target, if ever there was one. Amazing that  fellow scientists  prefer take an easy, uncompromisng target on religions rather than face real problems, like real men! (or women). We wont even mention the Middle east ‘crisis”. What are we fighting for?

On a lighter note, a rapid poll among some enlightned vigorous males throws the amazing data that amongst public female figures (in the media) of different sorts, the following are considered ‘desirable” females, marriable: Diane Sawyer, Mrs Dole! (in her prime, shes a respectful granny now) the governor (ex) of Michigan Ms Granholm, Peggy Noonan, Arianna Huffington (kinky choice: you imagine exchanging delicacies with her accent?), Michelle Bachman (kinkiest choice). Sarah Palin didnt make the cut, it was considered she was probably  acid…… down there.

A propos of spirited idiots. Case(s) in point: Ms Jacoby and thereof.

February 13, 2011

At her The spirited atheist column, WP, Ms Jacoby writes in “Obama is pandering to religion” (Ms Althouse , in her own wall writes and adds to the pire, commenting Maher, and proofreading Cornell West….for real …(what a delicate bouquet of dickos). Urgent: At WEIT, Dr Coyne quotes Maher-Bill- and… Althouse to claim his claim that BO is some kind of atheist. Serenely, add a pinch of salt before throwing dick Coyne to the bonfire. And hez a scientist….that is a guarantee or not of rationality, logicality)

Goes Ms Jacoby,: “In Washington, the “No Taxpayer Funding For Abortion Act” is designed to discourage insurance companies from covering abortion at all. Under the proposed law, introduced by New Jersey Republican Christopher Smith, people with tax-preferred medical savings accounts could not even use their own money to pay for an abortion without losing the tax break. The original language of this law would have narrowed exemptions for rape and incest by limiting any federal funding to oxymoronic cases of “forcible rape.” The provision was dropped after strong protests from women–including some Republican women. In a scathing episode of The Daily Show with Jon Stewart, correspondent Kirsten Schaal distinguished between rape and assaults that are only “rapeish and “rape-esque.”
“By proposing this legislation,” Schaal said, “Republicans are finally closing the glaring rape loophole in our health care system. You’d be surprised how many drugged, underaged, or mentally handicapped young women have been gaming the system. Sorry, ladies, the free abortion ride is over.”

IT WAS A PARODY, A SKETCH, you retard.

Unbelievably believable.

Note added in proof. It gets better-actually worst: at Rationally Speaking, De Dora writes :”President Obama’s speech at the recent National Prayer Breakfast gives us a rare look into his religious beliefs. Susan Jacoby is not happy.” and Ms Jacoby cant tell what is true or not, you moron. She probably didnt even read or watch Stewarts’ show or his web broadcast. Lets wait till De Dora gets his PhD, nopefully, things may get better, for his discernment.

In the meantime the anti-retard SWAT team (from mediaite.com)

“For the record, the belief Maher apparently holds – that Obama isn’t actually a Christian, but merely pretends to be one to keep up appearances for the sake of his political career – strikes us as one of the most cynical things anyone could possibly believe about Obama. Is it possible? Well, yes – it wouldn’t make Obama the first politician to not be entirely upfront about everything regarding his true self. But for Maher to hold the view that Obama’s not actually a Christian – a viewpoint, of course, fundamental to the “Obama’s a Muslim” school of thought Maher mocks in the very same segment you’ll see below – well, it’s a little curious.” …and stupid.

Today, post Valentin day, at Salon : “Why shooting fish in a barrel is a bad political strategy ” by
Michael Lind argues for a break in the bashing of well, all , BOs, religion as well. The bashing of the bashers included?
